Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about silver objects and the material culture around them. Proposals should start with a clear question or object, show why it will interest a general reader, and offer a distinct angle rather than a broad survey.
Subjects we welcome
Ideas may explore a form, a making method, a surface, a use, a custom or the way an object is kept and remembered. We are interested in specific, well-bounded subjects that can be explained without assuming specialist knowledge. A good pitch makes clear what the reader will understand or notice by the end.
What to send
Use the Contact page to send a short proposal with a working title, the central question, the planned approach and a few lines about why you are suited to write it. Mention any sources or images you expect to use and flag uncertainty or limitations. Please send a proposal rather than an unsolicited full article.
The editorial process
We consider pitches for relevance, clarity, originality and fit with the publication. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and an accepted piece may need edits for accuracy, structure, tone or length. We discuss material changes with the contributor and make no claim that a pitch will be accepted on a set timetable.
Objects tell their stories through use
Silver is material, craft and memory at once. We pay attention to what an object is made to do, how it is made, and the meanings people give it.
